Closer to New Year

So here we are, 4 days away from new year;s and around this time people start making new years resoultion and what not in order to change themselves for the coming year. It makes me wonder if new year's resolution ever worked out for anyone it certainly hasn't for me, I'm not sure as to the reason why but all I know is that I could never stick to one. It maybe because situations change, the scenery changes making it hard for you to keep to your resolution  sure it's just a year but a lot can happen within a year. For instance people you were close to last year would not be so close to you anymore, people who you didn't even know existed last year becomes your best friends now and all it took was a time span of a year. Sometimes you enjoy your time so much that you wonder where did the past year go with all the parties and the fun time you have with your friends and somehow each year makes you more mature with the bittersweet experiences that you go through. Doomsday

So the 21st of December 2012 passed us by and with a lot of commotion I would say. I think it all started out with the movie 2012 before which we were oblivious to the fact that the mayan calendar was supposedly hinting towards the end of the world as we know it.........or so we thought. It's frankly quite funny how people were getting scared of doomsday specially towards the 21st. Here in Sri Lanka they were saying for the news about doomsday, imagine that and even the newspapers had it. My dad was under the presumption that seven suns were going to rise on the 21st, and on the eve of the 21st there was a huge storm  thus, there was lightning and heavy rains (which is not all that special when you are living in a tropical country) and my dad was looking out the doorway. Out of the blue he hurriedly called and pointed to the distant and told us that what they were saying is true, the sun was rising in the night. At this point I wasn't exactly sure what he was pointing at, it c...

The good old days

Do you sometimes wish that you could go back in time? to the time when you were in school where your future seems like a distant dream that you didn't have the time to worry about? Where you were having innocent fun just because? I often find myself wishing I could go back in time, back to school where it was undoubtedly one of the best times/periods of my life, yep those were the carefree days. There was this one time where we returned after an inter-school drama competition and we came back to school, 2 other guys and I, we were waiting till the second vehicle comes since our school was going to drop us back home. The overall view of my school was such that, there was the back gate which opened out into the basketball court and obviously near the gate security guards were placed and they were there 24/7. So we came in through the back gate and decided to stay in the basketball court because then we would know when the rest arrived. It was apparent that the rest would take a whi...

A little about me

Anyone who's reading this now would be wondering who I am. Well to start off with I am Ashan in case you missed the blogging authors name. In order to describe me in a nutshell, I'm fun, quiet, intruding, different, confused all in one. But then again this is just in a nutshell and I can't guarantee that this is truly what I am. The whole reason why I started this blog is to have something to do, other than studying watching movies and all the other usual things. Currently I am an undergraduate student at the tender age of 18 and going through my second year of college, and just in case anyone in high school is reading this I'm telling you now college is NOT fun. Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, it is fun but not the studying and getting good grades part of it but then again, when is studying ever fun. I'm living in Sri Lanka, it's a good place to travel to with nice beaches and all but as a place to live? Well if i had a choice i would chos...
