Closer to New Year
So here we are, 4 days away from new year;s and around this time people start making new years resoultion and what not in order to change themselves for the coming year.
It makes me wonder if new year's resolution ever worked out for anyone it certainly hasn't for me, I'm not sure as to the reason why but all I know is that I could never stick to one.
It maybe because situations change, the scenery changes making it hard for you to keep to your resolution sure it's just a year but a lot can happen within a year. For instance people you were close to last year would not be so close to you anymore, people who you didn't even know existed last year becomes your best friends now and all it took was a time span of a year.
Sometimes you enjoy your time so much that you wonder where did the past year go with all the parties and the fun time you have with your friends and somehow each year makes you more mature with the bittersweet experiences that you go through.
One year is all it takes to change who you are, sometimes it's just scary, you plan for your future, your dreams and aspirations and at some point these dreams and aspirations can come crashing around you. Shatter into million pieces reminding you that nothing in this world is fixed, that at some point in time all that you had, all that you thought you had can just disappear. Never think for a minute that you have something for eternity relationships, things you like, your possessions are time bound and when the time is up it just goes.
One year is all it takes for the person to be braver or weaker so if you were insulting, making fun of a person don't expect him to be that way forever because he can someday become a success story and maybe the one to help when you are at your lowest. Never take people for granted. Experiences change us and with new experiences comes responsibility, with an image comes reputation and it's upto you to safe guard it.
Situations change within a year, you can be rich or poor or the next victim to a natural disaster just don't count your stars yet because you're not even close to the finish line.
It's for these reason that I don't believe in new year's resolution because somehow it seems redundant because we have no idea what the coming year holds for us, we don't know what will happen to us tomorrow or the day after. So there's no point in making promises to yourself that you can't keep, saying you will change or that you will achieve something is just naked words with no assurance. Work for your goals but be realistic about it and just because you make a new year's plan does not mean it will all happen without you putting the work needed to make it happen.
