No Work, More Waste of Time
No one really tells you how mundane it can be not doing anything, with no purpose and waiting for something to happen but it doesn't. This is exactly what I do when I go to work.
My current daily life follows something of this sort;
6.00 a.m : wake up with a grouchy feeling, hating the fact that I have to get up so early, reminiscing the days gone by when I could wake up at 10 in the morning.
6.30 a.m : have a bath, brush teeth, get dressed and then onto breakfast.
6.45 a.m : start heading off to work and get on the bus
6.50 - 8.00 : contemplate the greater meaning in life and what I have planned out for my future and things to get done, whilst all the time taking in the ambiance of the morning life where the buses are jam packed and the morning unfolds.
8.15 am : get to work prompt and early so as to make sure that my measly salary is not deducted further.
8.15 a.m - 12.30 p.m : browse through the internet for random things that momentarily interests me such as what are the tallest buildings, how to possibly build tree houses, news developments, comic strips etc. Do the one small assignment that is handed me, to be it going through a document or search for something on the web (which would take 10 minutes off my otherwise vacant lifestyle). Of course have to drink my tea at 9.30 a.m, and then patiently wait for lunch time and contemplating where to go to have lunch while methodically ruling out the options in my head. Further trying to figure out my two days off that I get each month and strategically figure out so that by taking one day off I would have 3 consecutive holidays e.g. take Friday off so that I have three days in total off.
12.30 - 1.30 p.m : eat lunch from somewhere outside and then most of the time head back to office early because I run out of things to do to occupy my whole lunch hour.
1.30 - 4.30 p.m : back at office browsing through random things on the internet and looking out at the magnificent view I have of the Colombo harbor. At 2.30 my evening tea arrives which I drink even though I feel stuffed from the lunch. I patiently wait till 4.30 p.m when I can finally go home.
4.30 - 6.00 pm : start heading home and get on the bus to do so, again contemplating life and what I have in store for it often leading to the eventual act of me dozing off in the bus.
6.00 - 7.00 p.m : get home, get something to eat from the fridge and firmly plant myself in front of the television and try watch all the different shows available. Finally, when I have had enough, go to take a shower.
7.00 -11.00 p.m : after having a shower get my laptop out and starting going on social media sites after which I watch a t.v series or a movie. Have dinner and then spend a little more time watching something, often a tv series. Then finally at 11.00 head to bed and sleep.
So this is pretty much how my days are spent, and yes this does look extremely normal but for me, a bit mundane. Further compounded by the fact that I don't have proper work to get done at office instead I end up spending the time doing absolutely nothing and surfing the web.
I'm not really complaining that I'm not super busy but it would be nice to have SOME work to do, enough to keep me occupied. However, I don't think I will get that.
So here is to 5 months more of doing absolutely nothing. Cheers.
